person receiving acupuncture on their back and neck

Hello!

I’m Marian Taylor, LAc. MAc.

So what do those post-nominal letters stand for? Licensed Acupuncturist & Master of Chinese Acupuncture! To become a Licensed and Board Certified Acupuncturist and to receive your Master’s Degree, you need 1905 hours of study (600 hours of which are in clinic practicing needling). This education includes, but is not limited to extensive study in human anatomy, biology, biomedicine – western pharmacology, research, ethics, and of course, Chinese medical theory, diagnosis and treatment. That is about three years of full time study, and more if you study herbal medicine.

In order to become licensed you also need to pass Three Board Exams: Foundations of Chinese Medicine – which includes comprehensive knowledge of symptom assessment, proper diagnosis and treatment, Acupuncture – which includes point selection, location, and safety, and Biomedicine – which includes knowledge of prescription drugs, vitamins and supplements, western medical conditions, and any contraindications.

I am also an avid tennis player, hiker, family girl, reiki master and yoga instructor. And, in a former life, I owned a company which specialized in marketing for non-profits and socially responsible businesses.

I am lucky as I have found my calling. I truly love being an acupuncturist. I can’t wait to meet you and help you on your path to wellness!
